The Internet Movie Database (IMDb) has announced what it considers to be the top 10 stars of 2011, based upon the number of pageviews that each received on their web site.

Each of the top 10 is listed below, with a link to the movies they've starred in on The BigScreen Cinema Guide:

1. Natalie Portman
2. Mila Kunis
3. Johnny Depp
4. Emma Stone
5. Chris Hemsworth
6. Olivia Wilde
7. Jennifer Lawrence
8. George Clooney
9. Ryan Gosling
10. Christian Bale

None of these names are any real surprise, as they all starred in popular, mostly mainstream movies in late 2010 (Oscar contenders) and in 2011. What I think would be an interesting statistic is to know who the top 10 stars are that were not in movies in the same timeframe. Popularity is a fleeting thing and rather than know who the latest flash in the pan is, I'd be interested to know who has momentum without the benefit of a multi-million dollar marketing budget courtesy of the movie studios.
