Regal Entertainment Group announced this week that the Regal Cinemas Waugh Chapel Stadium 12 & IMAX in Gambrills, Maryland will open to the public on Friday, September 14, 2012. The theater's Grand Opening will be celebrated with preview events in the days leading up to its opening, and promotions during the first week it is open. It is located in the Waugh Chapel Towne Centre near the intersection of Route 3 and Waugh Chapel Road.

The new theater will feature Digital Cinema Projection systems in each of the 12 auditoriums, with an unspecified number of them capable of RealD 3D presentations. The IMAX auditorium is also equipped with a digital IMAX system (no film) capable of 2D and 3D presentations.

“Waugh Chapel is a tremendous open-air retail center in a thriving community between Baltimore and DC. Right in the center of this town center is our new state-of-the-art Regal Cinemas which includes the impressive IMAX Experience,” stated Russ Nunley, Regal Entertainment Group Vice President of Marketing and Communications. “Regal Entertainment Group is thrilled to open this remarkable entertainment destination for the moviegoers of Anne Arundel County.”

An announcement in April by Regal listed the following amenities:

• Stadium seating provides each moviegoer an unobstructed view of the screen
• Retractable cup holders move out of the way to form seats for two
• Fully stocked concession stands offer name brand, high quality snacks
• Guest service desks provide extra assistance in the spacious lobby
• The computerized box office speeds up ticket transactions
• Regal Express kiosks offer customers fully-automated ticket purchasing
• Advance tickets are also available by phone or through REGmovies.com
• The industry-leading Regal Crown Club loyalty program rewards frequent moviegoers
• Digital projection in every auditorium to provide a crystal-clear picture
• Real D 3D projection systems available for 3D enhanced presentations

Preview Events

A series of preview events are being held in the days leading up to the theater's Grand Opening. These events allow the theater staff to get some real-world experience before opening, and they benefit local charities, so everyone wins!

The Preview Events will feature $2 movies, $2 popcorn, and $2 soft drinks with proceeds benefiting Boys and Girls Clubs of Anne Arundel County, Got Your 6 – Military Support, and Grants 4 Teachers of Anne Arundel County.

First-run movies that will be showing on the theater's opening day include Resident Evil: Retribution An IMAX 3D Experience and Finding Nemo 3D. Each paid admission from September 14-20 will enjoy a free popcorn and soft drink.
