The Savanna Times Theatre in Savanna, Illinois closed August 5, 2012. An announcement on their web site read as follows:

We are sad to announce that Sunday August 5, 2012 was the last day of operation of the Savanna Times Theater. Thank you for your past support. - Cindy Harksen

The Savanna Times Theater is for sale, if you are interested in purchasing this ready to run theater in a nice small town, contact Cindy Harksen at 563-212-4169.

The theater opened in 1943 as a single-screen location, and was twinned in 1979.

Moviegoers in the Savanna area will need to do some driving in order to find a big screen, with the closest theater being the CEC Theatres - Clinton 8 in Clinton, Iowa, which is about 20 miles away. There are also four other theaters within 30 miles, so there are choices to be had for those willing to travel.
