It's Los Angeles in 1949, and ruthless, Brooklyn-born mob king Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) runs the show in this town, reaping the ill-gotten gains from the drugs, the guns, the prostitutes and—if he has his way—every wire bet placed west of Chicago. And he does it all with the protection of not only his own paid goons, but also the police and the politicians who are under his control.
It's enough to intimidate even the bravest, street-hardened cop... except, perhaps, for the small, secret crew of LAPD outsiders led by Sgt. John O'Mara (Josh Brolin) and Jerry Wooters (Ryan Gosling), who come together to try to tear Cohen's world apart.
As seen in the trailer, the movie drips with an atmosphere of days gone by when justice was largely about who had the most guns and the best connections. There was another trailer that was released earlier this summer, but was pulled by the studio after the shootings in Aurora, Colorado due to some scenes that were similar to that event.
We also have some photos from the movie on the Photo Gallery page, so you can see some of the same scenes shown in the trailer.
Gangster Squad opens in theaters January 11th, 2013, so head over to the Movie Information page for all the information we have for the movie so far. The Read link below will take you directly to the Trailers & Videos page.
