The Cinemark Millcreek 6 in the Millcreek Mall in Erie, Pennsylvania closed October 14, 2012. According to an article by the Erie Times-News, mall officials are trying to figure out if another theater operator could take over, or if the space could be converted to another use.

"It certainly would fit the bill for another theater operator," said Joe Bell, spokesman for the mall and director of corporate communications for Cafaro Co., which owns Millcreek Mall.

"We will consider other options," Bell added. "We're capable of renovating it for new use. Retail space, hospitality. The possibilities are quite open."

That leaves the Cinemark Tinseltown 17 as the only mainstream movie theater in town. (The TREC Big Green Screen Theater shows nature-oriented documentaries.) If you're willing to drive some distance, there are more choices within 40 miles of Erie.
