...there are several GM vehicles -- new and old -- in the movie. For example, the 1959 Impala lowrider is a car customizer called Ramone in the film. Tex, a big-time race car sponsor, is a 1975 Cadillac Coupe de Ville. A green modern-day Hummer makes an appearance, too, and Tihanyi believes that Mater, a beat-up but endearing tow truck that's a main character in the movie, is based on a 1950s Chevrolet pickup.Also included is a Porsche 911, a Mercury police cruiser, and several vehicles of Pixar's design. A lot of detail went into the movie, and the article talks about the effort that Pixar invested to make it realistic, from the sounds of the cars to the paint colors.
