Select theaters are showing advance shows of Akeelah and the Bee on Saturday, April 22nd. The movie, which opens nationwide on 4/28, is about an 11-year-old girl from South Los Angeles that takes her talent for spelling from her school's spelling bee all the way to the national competition in Washington, D.C. She gets help along the way from a coach and previous contestant, as well as her family, friends, and neighbors. The previews I've seen aren't nearly good enough to convey how entertaining the movie is. I enjoyed it thoroughly!
