Following right on the heels of their announcement that they were acquiring Colorado Cinemas and their 11 locations, Kerasotes ShowPlace Theatres announced that, effective tomorrow March 2, 2007, they will be taking over the operations of the Chicago, Illinois area Crown Theatres Village Crossing 18 in Skokie and the Crown Theatres Glen 10 in Glenview.
These acquisitions vault Kerasotes into the 6th spot of the nation's largest exhibitors with 94 theatres and 838 screens.
(Chicago, IL – February 8, 2007) Kerasotes ShowPlace Theatres, LLC proudly announces the Crown Theatres Village Crossing 18 in Skokie and the Crown Theatres Glen 10 in Glenview will become part of the Kerasotes family of theatres. Management of these two top performing locations is expected to transfer to Kerasotes ShowPlace Theatres, LLC on Friday, March 2, 2007.

Chicago based Kerasotes ShowPlace Theatres, LLC was founded in 1909 when Gus Kerasotes opened his first nickelodeon, The Royal, in Springfield, Illinois. Louis and Nicholas Kerasotes, Gus’ sons, later led the business as Kerasotes Theatres grew to a regional company with 50 theatres by the mid 1960’s. Today, Kerasotes is principally managed by third generation family, Tony and Dean Kerasotes, who have directed the company’s aggressive growth since 1985.
Reflecting the increasing presence of Kerasotes ShowPlace Theatres, LLC in the Chicago metropolitan area, the Kerasotes Niles ShowPlace 12 and Kerasotes Cicero ShowPlace 14 opened November, 2006. The company’s flagship, ShowPlace 16 in Naperville opened in June, 2006. In spring of 2006, Kerasotes ShowPlace Theatres, LLC acquired the City North 14 and the Webster Place 11. Located in the Chicago’s near west side at Central and Grand, another ShowPlace 14 is under construction with a planned June 2007 opening. Other upcoming projects include a 14 screen theatre in Bridgeview planned for 2007 and a 16 screen theatre in the South Loop anchoring the new mixed use development, Roosevelt Collection.
With today’s announcement, Kerasotes ShowPlace Theatres, LLC is the nation’s sixth largest film exhibitor soon to operate 94 theatres with 838 screens in Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, and Ohio.
