|Home: BigScreen Journal - What We're Watching: Alexander Revisited: The Final Cut|
Back in 2004, director Oliver Stone released a nearly-three-hour movie about Alexander the Great, called "Alexander," starring Colin Farrell in the lead role. It didn't do all that well, opening to generally negative reviews, landing in 6th place on its opening weekend, and going on to just barely recover its estimated $150 million budget in worldwide grosses.
Of course, critical and theatrical success aren't always the only measure of a movie's quality, since the home video market provides many movies with a second chance to be seen and enjoyed by audiences.
In the case of "Alexander," audiences not only got their second chance with a DVD release, but a third when the two-disc Director's Cut was released, and now a fourth chance with the release of "Alexander Revisited - The Final Cut."
I'll be posting a review of the "Final Cut" soon, but until then, please feel free to visit the Reviews page for Alexander to read the thoughts of your fellow BigScreen readers and other featured reviews.
