Toshiba is offering rebates on HD DVD players and HDTV's to celebrate Father's Day.

From their press release, here are the offers:

• From May 20 - June 9, consumers that purchase an HD-A2 HD DVD player will receive a $100 in-store instant rebate.
• From June 10 - June 16, consumers that purchase any Toshiba HD DVD player will receive a $100 in-store instant rebate. For individuals seeking the complete home theater package, an HD DVD player can be purchased with any Toshiba 42" (measured diagonally) or larger HDTV for a $200 in-store instant rebate.

This offer is in addition to the current mail-in offer of receiving five free HD DVD movies with a purchase of any HD DVD player through July 31, 2007.

There's no indication whether this instant rebate will be available at online stores, such as Amazon.com, but I would imagine that they will. According to the Toshiba Press Release I found here, the rebate "will be available across a wide range of retailers, including Best Buy, Circuit City, HHGregg, Amazon.com and many others." Considering that the HD-A2 is currently available on Amazon.com for $278 - $313, knocking $100 off that price would make that unit a very attractive Father's Day gift, indeed!
