|Home: BigScreen Journal - Sean Connery Declines Role in "Indiana Jones 4"|
Ever since the idea of a fourth Indiana Jones movie was raised, the rumor mill has been grinding with speculation about whether Sean Connery would return as Indiana Jones Sr.
USA Today is reporting that Connery is deciding retirement is "too much fun" and will not be in the new movie:
"I get asked the question so often, I thought it best to make an announcement. I thought long and hard about it, and if anything could have pulled me out of retirement, it would have been an Indiana Jones film," Connery said in a statement Thursday.
"Indiana Jones IV" (for lack of an official title) is tentatively scheduled for release May 22nd, 2008. Confirmed cast members include Harrison Ford, Cate Blanchett, Ray Winstone, Shia LaBeouf, and John Hurt, with other rumors persisting about the addition of Karen Allen, Natalie Portman, and John Rhys-Davies.
