The News-Journal of Daytona Beach, Florida ran a story on July 27th that the AMC Volusia 8 theater at 2455 International Speedway Blvd. closed on Sunday, July 29th and was scheduled for demolition shortly afterwards.
[Andy DiOrio, spokesman for AMC Entertainment Inc.] said AMC decided to shutter the theater at 2455 International Speedway Boulevard because it no longer fit their profile. "We continue to upgrade the quality of our theater circuit and that is one that has been identified as not competing effectively in that marketplace," he said about the theater, which opened in 1987.
An HHGregg electronics store is to be built on the property, which is scheduled to open in the Spring.
