According to the Southtown Star, the Marcus Orland Park Cinemas will not see the three-screen addition that was approved for it five years ago:
Marcus now says it wants to build an 8,000-square-foot addition that will house one theater, seating 431, according to village documents.
"When we had the approval, it was Marcus Corporation's feeling that the building would react to the market," Marcus attorney David Sosin told the village's plan commission. "The market for theaters continues to change and we are now here for a smaller number of seats and a slightly taller building."
According to the article, Marcus now wants to build just one large auditorium (presumably an UltraScreen of the proportions of those at their Majestic Cinema in Wisconsin). Their new plan needs village board approval before they can proceed.
