1262 Westwood Boulevard Westwood & Wilshire Boulevards Los Angeles, CA 90024 ![]() Closed for renovations in October 2011, but its future is not certain. See Journal Entries page for more information. Founded in 1940 or 1941 by Frances Seymour Fonda, wife of actor Henry Fonda. Opened in December 1940 as the Westwood Theatre (live performance venue). Renamed the UCLAN Theatre, and then Crest Theatre (1950s). Opened as the Metro Theatre in June 1983 after a renovation. Cineplex Odeon took over in 1988 and renamed it the Crest Theatre. Purchased in 2003 and renamed the Majestic Crest Theatre. Purchased in 2010 by Big Foot Entertainment and operated by Carmike Cinemas. The theater closed in October 2011. It reopened in May 2013.
