It was sold to AMC in 1979 and became the AMC Midtown. It was twinned in 1980, creating the AMC Midtown I & II. It closed in 1995. The American Music Theater Festival (AMTF) purchased the theater in 1995 and reopened it as the Prince Music Theater in 1999. It closed in 2014. The Philadelphia Film Society took over in 2015 and renamed it to the Prince Theater. In 2018, they renamed it to the Philadelphia Film Center.
