1412 Chestnut Street Philadelphia, PA 19102 Message: 267-239-2941 more » Opened as the single-screen Karlton Theater in 1921. It became the Midtown Theater in 1950. It was sold to AMC in 1979 and became the AMC Midtown. It was twinned in 1980, creating the AMC Midtown I & II. It closed in 1995. The American Music Theater Festival (AMTF) purchased the theater in 1995 and reopened it as the Prince Music Theater in 1999. It closed in 2014. The Philadelphia Film Society took over in 2015 and renamed it to the Prince Theater. In 2018, they renamed it to the Philadelphia Film Center. In Aug 2024, it was known as the Film Society Center (but also referred to as the Philadelphia Film Center).
