Opened in 1989 by General Cinema Corp. (GCC). It closed in 2001 and was reopened as by Galaxy Theatres as the Galaxy Gateway 8.

It was sold to Starplex Cinemas in 2005 and was turned into a discount theater showing second-run movies. It was renamed the Starplex Cinemas - Gateway Movies 8.

formerly Starplex Cinemas - Gateway Movies 8, which changed to AMC Gateway 8 after AMC acquired Starplex Cinemas in 2015. It was rebranded in 2017 to the AMC Classic Gateway 8.
