"Lockout" is nothing more than a series of fragments that came from other movies. The only original idea of the movie, is the penal colony in space. Other than that I didn't care much about the movie. Guy Perce doesn't add much to his character. He comes off as a poorboy version of Snake Pisson in the Escape movies. The daughter of the presidenrt who was held captive from the outer space cons, came from the plot from "Escape from LA." She is played by Maggie Grace. Her character got better whne she change hair color in the middle of the movie.Grace should be the hero of the movie. We need more tough women in action movies. The convicts aren't anything special. Those cons reminds me of the cons from the 1997 movie "Con Air." Once more, this is supose to take place in 2079 and the people in the movie are smoking and/or shooting guns. One con acts like Rain Man. I didn't get much out of this movie.

If not for Guy Pearce, this movie would be close to unwatchable. He, and he alone gives the movie some redeeming quality.
