"Melancholia" is a science fiction movie that's doesn't feel like a science fiction movie. It''s a movie about the end of the world as seen though the eyes of a few people. The film is like the classic 1952 movie "When World Colide," except the people are trying to get on with their lives, rather than finding a nearby spaceship to take them off the doom planet. The film is divided into two parts. Part One deals with a wedding with no mention of the planet that is about to hit Earth. The Second part deals with the same characters getting ready foir the end. Kristin Dunst is the biggest standout of the movie. I'm glad that she's back on the big screen again. Lars Von Trier directs this film that contains more drama than special effects.
