There aren't many westerns on the big screen today, but once in a while a special movie mwill come along and reminded us that why we missed the western. That movie is "Dances with Wolves." Kevin Costner stars and directedx this three hour epic about a man named Lieutenant Dunbar who escaped having his foot cut off in the Civil War and ends up as the only solider at a army outpost. Until a wolf changed his life forever and the way he view the indians. There is a quote from the 1995 movie "While You Were sleeping" that you can't join the family like you join the marines.Costner somehow became a part of the indian tribe who learn their ways of life. This is a special movie and I like it very much. It deserves those Oscar wins.

This is a sweeping Western that deserves every accolade given to it! Kevin Costner is perfect as a Civil War soldier who goes to the frontier "before it's gone" and finds much more than what he expected. While likely not historically accurate in every way, it's the closest that many people will come to appreciating what happened at that time in our country's history.

On top of the incredible visuals, the soundtrack is equally amazing. If you enjoy this movie, you'll find yourself enjoying the soundtrack album by John Barry.
