The acting in this movie was superb. You really got into the characters. All the actors. I think it will be nominated for best picture and best actor. I have never seen Robert Downey Jr. act so convincingly.

With so many useless option, this is a decent one. Downey and Duvall are worth the effort. Courtroom exchanges are good. A little too much family melodrama. 6.5 of 10 for me.

This one of the best pictures of the year. Downey and Duvall work well together and there are many happy and sad moments throughout. Well developed stories all close with clean endings. Very well done!

A sappy drama which has eveything except character developmemt. The film although good looking, doesn't add to much drama except the characters go overboard and that didn't help the movie. Robert Downey Jr. needs to get away from his Iron Man role and do more drama and "The Judge" didn't help much. He play a defense attorney in Chicago, when he learned of the death of his mother. He return th his hometown of Indiana where he must make peace with his father, the town's judge, whom they haven't spoke for years. But later in the movie, the father, played by Robert Duvall heeds the son help after he wes arrested for murder. I can't reavel the outcome of the trail, But you have to see it for yourself. The film biggest problem is the perfromance of Robert Duvall, His perfromance goes way over the top as someone who has Cancer, anger issues and loss of memory, and he still on the bench? His two other sons are no fun either, one doesn't do much while the other has anger issues. Even Robert Downey Jr's character is a problem. He tried to injext humor in the film, and failed. I saw a TV ad the mention that Robert Duvall won an Oscar and Downey Jr got an Oscar nomination (Sadly no mention of a Oscar nomination from Vera Farmiga for her supporting role in "Up In The Air")) These mention of Oscar glory is moot when you sat though films like "The Judge.": The people in the movie ough to lighten up. The only thin in the movie that I like is Vera Farmiga. she's a joy to watch in a joyless movie. she is the only reason why I didn't throw the book at the movie. I love the actress. I even wrote a letter to her and to me that is rare. Even vote her for E News' Hottie Of The Week on a weekly basis. So I didn't get ,much out of "The Judge," but I came away with something.
