Great movie. The start is rather a misguided and zany comedy, But Bill Murray and Melissa McCarthy overall play rather serious parts. It covers topics such as bullying, dementia and stroke which are presented and addressed very well. I find it a very well rounded film, enjoyable and emotional. Great acting and nice to see McCarthy in a serious roll.

A month ago I took in a screening of "Ghostbusters" on it's 30th Annoversary release. I saw Bill Murray in the movie as young and full of energy. A month later, I saw the movie "St. Vincent" and I saw the actor as thirty years older and still haven't lost his charm. He plays a Vietnan Veteran who saw his best days gone by. He's a crabby old man who drinks and gambles on horse racing. One day, not by choice, I befriends a single mon and her son and that's where the film takes off. This is Murray's best role in years as a man who can play a role that is both comic and tragic. Melissa McCarthy play rhe role straight. I didn't get any laughs out of her anbd that's okay. She can play a serious role. Jaeden Liberher is briliant as the kid that made Murray come out of his shell.
