A smart horror movie made by someone who knows how to directed movies. Guillemo del Toro has directed a beautiful but scary movie about a ghost writer played by Mia Wasikowska who got married an d then moved into a goth mansion which has a hole at the top of the house and it's full of butterflies and dead or dying flies. From there on the film starts getting a lot weirder then it already is. At one point, while watching the movie, I find myself comparing it to the 1944 movie "Gaslight" Last week, I called "Goosebumps" the best horror movie of the year. I may have misspoke, After seeing this movie, I changed my opinion and say that "Crimson Peak" is the best horror film of the year and right now the film is up against the terrible "The Last Witch Hunter." The choice is yours. If you pick "The Last Wtich Hunter" over "Crimson Peak" you'll going to hate yourself later.

This was a surprisingly good horror movie. As someone who greatly dislikes jump scares, this movie fit my requirements while still providing an amazing thrill. I would recommend watching this movie with someone else in the house, as I'm not sure I would be able to sleep if wandering around a dark house late at night post-watching this. Tom Hiddleston does a great job with this movie, as does the entire cast. I watched it multiple times in a couple of days, if only because every rewatch makes more sense, and there's so many things to pick up on in subsequent watches.
