Interesting story of an astronaut getting left behind for dead on Mars. The story focuses on the human ingenuity needed to use the resources available to survive far longer than supplies would allow. Also a bit of tech talk as they figure how to rescue him. Very enjoyable story, though serious, is able to keep a comedic aspect to it.

I read on social media that"The Martian" is based on a true story. I don't think so since they haven't sent anyone to Mars yet. This is a good movie about a astronaut who is strained on Mars by the other passengers who have written him off as dead, but despite that he never had given up hope. The film is directed by Ridley Scott and was written by Drew Goddard and is based on the novel by Andy Weir. The screenplay could have written as a science fiction version of "Home Alone." But for astronaut Mark Watney played by Matt Damon, it's serious business as he learn to survive on grown potatoes and disco music. He uses duck tape on almost everything that will make Red Green feel proud. Meanwhile his fellow astronaunts and the people on Earth is having a freak out and tried to figure out a way to get him off the plant. Watching Damon survive and the people trying to rescue him is part of the fun of watching the movie.
