A powerful movie that takes a graphic look at the one of the darkest chapters in US History. "Bridge of Spies" tells about a lawyer name James Donovan (tom Hanks) who defended a KGB Spy named Rudolph Abel played by Mark Rylance. Out of that came backlash from his fellow citzens for defending himself. To redeem himself, he use the KGB spy to persuade the Russians to exchange him for Francis Gary Powers. A man who was shot down over russia for spying. Director Steven Spieldberg who directed the movie, has a cold war fell. From children reacting to a nuclear bomb to people getting shot while they escape the Berlin wall. Hanks performance reminds me of the performance of Gregory Peck in the 1962 movie "To Kill a Mockingbird." He deserve a Oscar nomination. This movie is a real eye-opener and it will open up to teens who are studying American history to get the feel of a dark time when US and the Soviet Union are very close to World War III. this movie doesn't leave nothing out.

Great movie, great cast with Tom Hanks. Outstanding historical story of captured spies including Gary Powers and how the exchange for our two captured people were exchanged for one soviet spy due to the stubbornness of an American lawyer (Ton Hanks). Though the length of the movie is well over two hours, it sure didn't seem that long. Very interesting and intriguing story.

Overall: This was a expertly made historical fiction film. All of the shots were very direct and the score was effective in building tension. Of course, you can't expect much less from a Spielberg film. Tom Hanks' performance was great, as was Mark Rylance's. The first act felt like a cinematic masterpiece of a Law and Order episode. This easily deserved all of the Oscar Nominations it got, and although it isn't Spielberg's best film, it's another great feather in his directing cap.
