If you saw the original 'Now You See Me', then I would say, wait for the rental. It's all the same mind bending impossible to actually do hokus pokus. The acting is very good, the story takes a little to keep up with as it is fast moving. It would be more enjoyable if it were 15 minutes shorter.

The sequel to the 2013 film isn't wroth seeing despite a few good moment including the scene toward the end involving an airplane. But there are holes in the movie. Nobly absent was Isla Fisher who brought a lot of sex appeal to the movie, which was truly missed from the movie. Lissy Caplan step in to replace her. she's very appealing, but can't fill fisher's shoes. Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman return for the sequel but it's not the same. Daniel Radcliffe is all over the place as the villain. I still love the first movie and I would love to see it again, but the sequel has it's moment, but it really doesn't go anywhere. This is the third failed sequel that i saw in the last two weeks right after "Alice Though the Looking Glass," "The Teenage Mutant Turtles: Out of the Shadows," and not its, "Now You See Me 2 or The Second Act." One bad sequel is one bad sequel too many.

While not as good as the first one, this is a suitable sequel. It brings back nearly every ensemble character, save for Isla Fisher (her absence is explained lightly early on).

Perhaps because the first was original, and this one can't recapture that "magic," this installment doesn't thrill as much as the first. The action scenes are "actionier" but they aren't necessarily better. I do like how they wrapped most of the characters from the first and made them part of the second.

If you haven't seen the first movie, you probably shouldn't watch them out of order. Understanding the motivations of some of the characters and the plot points requires knowing what happened in the first, so I recommend watching that one ahead of time (it's also a better movie).

As sequels go, it's good, but not great. Watching as a double feature isn't a bad way to go...
