"Birdman" is sometimes funny, but quite powerful movie that reminds me of the 1963 movie "8 1/2" directed by Federico Fellini. Michael Keaton knows his role well. He was Batman in the 1989 version and the 1992 sequel. Since then, his career took a tumble. His life is the mirrow image of the character he is playing. In the movie, he plays Riggan Thomson a wash up actor whom he made a bold attempt of a comeback in a broadway play that he will use as a launching pad for better things and to make people remember him for more than the Birdman movies. Those movies had been a curse to him. Even the superhero talks to him in his mind. I love the performance from Keaton. I hope he gets an Oscar nomination. But in my view, I don't think that he will get it, but the cast in the movie is amazing. Edwin Norton in a supprting role, plays a ego driven nactor who drives Keaton and the co-stars of the play up the wall. And the inside of the theatres consist of room anmd long narrow hallways as the cast myst go though either to get on stage or back in their dressing rooms. "Birdman" isn';t a superhero movie, but a movie about a actor who can't bush aside his success as the superhero. It's more of a pain for someone who want to get his past behind him, but their loyal fans and either Birdman won't let him.
