Loved this movie. It keeps you involved and sucks you in, then bam, a surprise ending, no, wait, a surprise to the surprise ending. Great acting all around.

"Secret in their Eyes" is a remake of the 2009 Argentine movie which won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Oscar. I happen to saw that movie ans it was terrific. Took me six months to finally saw the movie. Comparing to the American remake, it looks like a poor-boy version of "Prisoners." Two FBI investigators played by Chiwetel Ejofer and Julia Roberts are assign to terrorist detail in the wake of 9/11. When they got the call of a body, they discover that the body was Robert's daughter. For the next 2 minutes we get to see Julia Robert wailing and crying. One minute is ok but longer than one minute, it went on too long. After which, she is see moping around. Julia Roberts doesn't care about a movie or a movie role. All she cares about is winning another Oscar nomination. Nicole Kidman who plays the district attorney may be the only sane person in the movie. She's the only person in the movie that I like. If there is a copy of the 2009 version of the movie floating around, it best to see that version instead. This movie was made for people who will never see one flame of that movie.

While it was a little slow moving it was still a good movie.

Chiwetel Ejiofor is one of the only redeeming qualities of this movie. The rest was oddly written, choppy, over-acted, and had too many confusing flashbacks. I am usually a big fan of psychological movies that make the audience think and try to figure everything out for themselves, then throw a curve ball into the plot at the end. Secret in their Eyes does just that.
