A movie that is very hard to sit though. "Youth" is directed by Paolo Sorrentino the man who gave us "Great beauty" a film that won the Oscar for Best Foreign film. "Youth" is a empty movie. spending time with people that you can't stand. The film looks like an italian movie being done in English. The only thing that i got out of this fim is Michael Caine who played composer Fred Ballinger and Harvey Keitel who played movie director Mick Boyle. their chemistry is the only thing that is holding the movie together. the rest of the movie we keep running into characters who havew no emotions and lack the reason for being in the movie in the first place. Even Jane Fonda who didn't do much with her character. The film lacks emotion except in scenes where the characters let their emotions rage for all the wrong reason. The film ranked 72% by Rotton Tomatoes which is quite high for my expectations. I trash movies in their 80% range. The movie with their two hour running time is as lame as a perfume commerical.
