It has great performances from its ensemble cast, but doesn't live up to the original, and doesn't offer up anything new for this genre.

Good movie with a great cast. The story line held your interest all the way through, well done!

Pretty good movie but gee the people were magnified, nobody looked too good and don't think they were suppose to look that bad esp. the woman. Could of been I was sitting close? Instead of a dark old movies I prefer light, modern ones. The story was good.

It's been years since I saw the 1974 version of "Murder on the Orient Express" on Turner Classic Movies. Part of the reason why I barely recommend the 2017 movie version is that, Kenneth Branagh (who directed the movie) gave a superb performance as famous Detective Hercule Poiret who always like the eggs the same size. After solving a case in isreal, he finds himself on board the orient Express a train which goes from Bagdad to Berlin, traveling across the formal Central Powers allies in World War One. Then on board the train, someone was murdered and Poirot must find out who commited the crime. The cast is pretty impressive the list includes Branagh, Johnny Depp, Daisy Ridley, Michelle Pfiffer, Judi Dench, Penelope Cruz, Josh Gad, Leslie Odom, William Defoe, and Derek Jacobi. I like the movie because it kept me in suspense. For those who saw the 1974, you need to see the new version because of the impressive special effects, something that the 1974 version doesn't have. Until Turner Classic Movies comes to their senses and runs the 1974 movie, then the new version will have to do.

A superb ensemble cast, with some superb performances. Unfortunately, Murder on the Orient Express falls into the trap of fully fleshing out a small number of characters instead of going a little deeper into the entire cast.

Kenneth Branagh's mustache is fantastic, though.

Beautifully shot, well told, and engrossing. I might need to watch it again to catch the finer details.
