It's been years since the last Ghostbusters movie and a lot of people have like the new movie. But i prefer the old school version to the movie to the new version. I like the female cast of the new Ghostbusters, but despite references to the old 1984 movie, I wish the film could have done more in the homage department. the old cast should have return in their old roles, not give them second rate roles. The only good thing I like about the new Ghostbusters is that the special effects had improve over the last two movies. Even the new version of the Ghostbusters song is lame compare to the old more better version. The girls are good; Melissa mcCarthy, Kristin Wiig, Kate McKennon and Leslie Jones all gave good performance, but that movie stop short of recommending. My advice for the sequel if they have one is team the new team with the old team. That will be a real homage to the series.

This movie was surprisingly good. Considering how wonderful the original Ghostbusters film is, many people (including myself) expected this film to crash and burn. But it didn't. The film clearly wasn't perfect, but it was entertaining enough. More jokes landed than those that didn't, which was also a surprise. While it clearly exists in the same universe and the other Ghostbusters films, it isn't necessary to watch the others before this. There are some nostalgic moments you may miss out on, but because this is a remake instead of a direct sequal, there isn't a necessity to watch the others. The main four actresses leading the film were all surprisingly good in their own rights. Kristen Wig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones all were good, but the most funny and charismatic character among them was McKinnon's. Chris Hemsworth was brilliant as the Ghostbusters' sidekick Kevin. It was easy to tell he had fun being in this movie, which is one of the most important things to notice in actors when watching a movie. Obviously the movie left some things to be desired, such as motivations besides mental insanity for the villain. By and large the visual effects looked wonderful, and even the cameos by the original Ghostbusters cast were executed perfectly. Not a must see, but a good movie in it's own right, and much much better than expected.
