You'll probably ask why did i see this movie a few weeks before the released? The answer is quite simple, I was invited to a special screening of the movie at the Alamo Drafthouse Kalamazoo. I wasn't the first time that was invited and it won't be the last either. Teen movie has revolve over 36 years. I was the teen movie of John Hughes (Sixteen Candles, Breakfast Club) that bough serious attention to the genre. In 1999, "Ten Things I Hate About You" was released and I fell in love with the movie. "The Edge of Seventeen" reminds me of the teens movie that i saw for the past 35 years. what i love about the movie is the lead, played by Hailee Steinfeld, who is a loner who is rebelling against he mother (Kyra Sedwick) her best friend Krista (Haley Lu Richardson) and her older brother Darian (Blake Jenner). Her only friend is the teacher played brilliantly by Woody Harrison. the chemistry between the two is incredible and the comic write is the best thing I ever heard in a comedy in months. And the performance from Hailee Steinfeld is brilliant. her performance reminds me of Ellen Page in "Juno." This is a brilliant with is both funny and sad. When this movie is released in two weeks, I probalby say that i already done my job and I'll be off reviewing another movie like "Fantastic Beast. You're be waiting for another two weeks for the movie to be release. If I does, it's a movie worth waiting for.

Good movie.
I am sure there are many teens that experience these same feelings and situations. Though it presents some harsh realities of teen life and fitting in, it is handled rather well.
Overall an enjoyable movie.

The most important thing that makes a great movie is the story being told. The Edge of Seventeen tells a darn good story. With a raw, realistic script and a spectacular cast to boot, the film tells an amazing story that everybody, regardless of age or gender, can relate to.
