While it wasnt a horrible movie (Ive seen worse), it sure wasnt as good as I suspected. It was long, pretty boring and slow moving. Sissy Spacek was good, but I didnt think worthy of a Golden Globe. Marisa Tomei was just as good. I would never consider it for Best Picture.

Several people who walked out of the theater behind me also had the same opinion I did. How could this movie get 4 stars?

This is a good film, though not one with much redeeming value. It shows how a marriage, which seemed good, can unravel after a tragedy that they have no control over.

The first half moved quickly with the characters being developed. After a tragedy, the parents move through their anger, grief, and lash out at each other. They seem to realize that their marriage wasn't really all that great to begin with.

It's frustrating to see how slowly the criminal justice system moves for the victims. The ending was somewhat predictable. However, the acting was excellent, very dramatic and intense.

I wouldn't go to see this film again as I would A Beautiful Mind.

A powerful drama about the loss of child though violence is the theme of "In The Bedroom."

Sissy Speck and Tom Wilkinson are parents of their only child whom his relationship with an older woman, played by Marisa Tomei has lead to a violent ending. The film directed by Todd Field is a psychological study of one's family suffering the loss of a life, that of their son.

"In The Bedroom" is powerful cinema at it's best. Strong performances all around.

Oscar calabre acting, but there was too much plot left unresolved. If you know much of the plot going in, don't go. If you don't know much, it'll be an experience.

It's interesting, but not for everyone.
