This movie was so good and intense you could not leave it. Jessica Chastain did a great job through out the whole movie.

This is Jessica Chastain's movie. It succeeds or fails on the strength of her performance.

Fortunately, the movie's star is up to the task.

As she proved in Molly's Game in 2017, and her Oscar-nominated role in Zero Dark Thirty in 2012, as well as many other movies, Chastain has the ability to be the focus of a movie and carry it through from beginning to end.

This movie is intense, but not in the way that an action movie is intense. This is more of a procedural drama where we see the events unfold in the world of Washington DC lobbying. Showing us how the sausage is made, both sides of a lobbying effort surrounding a gun control bill commit a variety of legal, moral, and ethical offenses to succeed in either killing or passing the bill.

Chastain's title character is not a hero. She is driven to the point of obsession. She is working in her own self-interest at each turn. She appears cold and lacking emotion. All these qualities could make it very difficult for the audience to identify and cheer for her. However, she succeeds in doing just that. When everything unravels at the end, you are invested in what happens, and you are happy for having spent over two hours watching it all happen.

I would normally give this movie a Good rating, but based on the strength of Jessica Chastain's performance, I am going to say that it's a See Now! movie.
