It's not as bad as other January action flicks, but its boring and plodding plot make The Commuter more of snooze than an exhilarating thrill ride. Check out my full thoughts here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=noPArborY_E Jan 16, 2018
"the Communter" is a thriller that is right out of Alfred Hitchcock playbook. It could have been called "Strangers on a train" a reference to the 1951 thriller which is directed by Hitchcock. Matter of fact, it's like "Strangers on a Train," except the action never left the train. the typical Hitchock character is a man who goes on a train on a daily basis, until he is caught in a situation that he can't get out of. that happens to Liam Neeson's character as on his daily trips he meet a strange woman who told him to do something and there is money to go along with he is assign of doing. She is played by Vera Farmiga (more on her later). he goes up and down the train to find what doesn't belong on the train and then his family is caught in the fire. Liam Neesom gave a good performance, but the real star of the movie is Vara Farmiga who only appear in a few scenes really carried the movie. Her voice on the cell phone is menacing by each passing phone call. that scene on the train is exciting and I don't want to spoil the ending, but it's pretty exciting. why i single out Farmiga for praise. Well, probably no other film critic will credit her performance because she only appear in a few scenes, but she is brilliant and beautiful. I love the actress very much. A few years ago, I wrote her a fan letter. i never got a response, but from time to time, I think of her. when i think of the movie, I think of Vera Famiga. Mar 12, 2018
The part I most enjoyed was the men who acted and were the same guys who saved those lives. They did a GREAT JOB!!!! Better than some of the people we call actors. Looking for more opinions?Check out our Featured Movie Reviews for The Commuter. |
