I'm not expecting the new Star Wars movie to great. good in more like it. the movie tell of the early adventures of Ham Solo in the days before joining the resistance. The film takes him from a battle field to deal with crime lords. the movie takes a rare look at the places that the series seldom goes. Alden Enrenreich is great as Ham Solo. He more fun to watch than the Ham Solo later on in the Star Wars movies. her love interest is played by Emilia Clark who join a lone lines of Star Wars heroine. Besides she one beautiful actress. Some of the characters are reintroduced which will later pop up in the series. There is a surprise appearance of a Star Wars villain that no one, especially me saw coming. I had fun with the movie. You like the movie took if you don't ask for much.

Solo contained some fun and exciting moments, but overall was bland and forgettable.

Save your $$. Poor acting all around! Disney must be real desperate to pay off some debit from purchasing the Star Wars franchise. And are scraping the bottom of the acting barrel for this group of actors! The movie has no cohesiveness in the plot. I'll wait until the R2D2 sequel comes out. R2D2 secret life as a toaster! That one should be a real hot one. Just my two cents as they say.

The origin story of Han Solo was a story that didn't need to be told, but it also hasn't detracted from the franchise any more than Rogue One did. People panned that movie, but it had some nice hooks into the saga. My biggest criticism of that movie was that it didn't explore some interesting characters and stories that it could have, but didn't in service of the primary goal of supporting the triple-trilogy movies (which don't need supporting IMO).

I feel much the same way with this movie. It wasn't great, but it wasn't bad either. There are some characters that could have been explored much more deeply in a different movie, but that possibility had to be cast aside because it was the origin story for a character in a much larger franchise. Show me more about Chewbacca, about Qi’ra's time before she met back up with Han, and what about Beckett (played by Woody Harrelson)? I find myself wanting an origin story for him!

Because this movie never veers into "made for video" territory and because it doesn't do the Star Wars franchise any damage by its very existence, and most of all, because it's an opportunity for us to see more of the Star Wars universe, I cannot give this movie anything lower than a Good rating. I wish that it could have been worthy of a See Now! and maybe my opinion of it will improve when it comes out on video (which, of course, I will purchase).

Ignore the critics - this is a very fun movie. The big actors who made cameos in this film must have known it would be special, as it is - even without the aging Harrison Ford. I will make a point to see it again on my small screen because the dialog was drowned by other noise and I need CC to follow the story. Hope there will be more from Ron Howard in the Star Wars pantheon.
