An enjoyable and interesting look into the life of Winston Churchill, Darkest Hour provides a deep look into the life of the man, with a Oscar worthy performance from Gary Oldman. Check out my full thoughts here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxkVjhwBu9o Dec 29, 2017
A well-made WW2 era biopic about Churchill, featuring a performance by Gary Oldman that will likely win him an Oscar. Jan 4, 2018
I found this movie to be very informative and found many things I did not know. We felt that Winston was excellent especially being an American actor with a great English accent. Good one for us old fellas. Jan 11, 2018
Gary Oldman holds the screen like a lion in "Darkest Hour." I movie that revisit the dark days of England during World War II and is connected with another movie "Dunkirk." Both movies will probably be nominated for Best Picture. The last time that The Oscars had more than one nominated movie for best picture which surrounded World War II is "Saving Private Ryan" and "Life is Beautiful." back in 1999. Oldman plays Winston Churchill a fiery man who took over as Prime Minster in the early dark days of World War II. The time line of the movie takes place in May 1940, as Churchill organized his government and resit calls to make peace with Germany though Italy. Churchill isn't dumb, Italy is an ally of Germany. He's also behind the massive boat lift that help remove troops from Dunkirk. A connected to last Summer's movie. Gary Oldman holds the movie and he holds in very well. he won his Golden Globe last Sunday night and he will continued to win more awards between now and the Academy Awards . Not bad for some who once played Sirius Black in the Harry Potter movies. He wasn't alone. He had help from Lily James as his aid. and Kristin Scott Thomas as his wife. My favorite moment is when he talk to communters on a train. Lots of great moments like that makes love this movie even more.
