"Sicardo: Day of the Soldado" is a sequel to the blockbuster from two years ago. The the missing presence of Emily Blunt is felt in this movie. What more, in the opening scene when three sucide bombers enter a grocery store and blow themselves up. In one scene a mother and daughter tried to leave the store and a the third Suicide bomber blew him selves up before they can leave the store. That scene has stay with me the entire movie. That scene should have been on the cutting room floor. I know suicide bombers are bad people, but in a grocery store, give me a break. the film is nothing more than violence and death. the only saving grace is the performance of Isabela Morner. Her performance has kept me from giving it a lower score.I hope to see more of her in the future. Benicio de Toro and Josh Brolin returns to the movie.in the second movie, they are out to stop the Mexican cartels as the struggle terrorist across the border. Catherine Keener is added to the cast. I love the actress very much. I'm glad that she's finding movie work after "Get Out," but she's no replacement for Blunt. But going back to that scene when a mother and daughter died, It sadden me to see this. that scene ended any chance of recommending this movie. but Morner performance nearly save it.
