A total mess. "Pokemon:Detective Pkachu" is an uneasy mixture of cute Pokemon characters with Film Noir. the film is too dark.Only fans of Pokemon will like this movie a lot more than those don't. the film centers on a kid named Tom Goodman played by Justice Smith, who wanted to know how his father was killed. He got help from Pikachu who voiced by Ryan Reynolds. Justice Smith plays a real jerk and I was turned off by his behavior. The plot of the movie was probably taken from the Disney movie "Zootopia," which a purple mist has turned pokemon animals mad. If they're those who became fans of Pokemon because of the movie, there won't be many. the only good character who came out of this is a reporter name Lucy Steavens, played by Kathryn Newton whose character could have been used elsewhere. I know there a lot of people who will enjoy this movie, but I didn't. It's a tad to dark and violent and I found the humor lacking. Making my movie experience a little dreary.
