Great movie. Held your interest during the whole movie. Named Searching because most of it was done on the computer and you didn't want to look away. Didn't want it to end.

"Searching" reminds us of how influential the social media has on us. I can recall watching "Absence of Malice" which came out in 1981 feature a computer in the back at a newspaper where Sally Field works. The film center on the father played by John Cho who communicate with his teenage daughter though social media like Facebook. When she disappears and the detective's hands are tied, he went on social media to find out what happen to her. This movie reminds me of the 1979 movie "Hardcore" where George C. Scott searches for his daughter when he learned that she was taken into the porn underworld. Unlike "Searching," the social media doesn't exist. The opening moments of the movie, we see Cho with his wife and daughter in happier times until his wife died of cancer. Those open scenes remind me of the opening scenes of "Up!" where we find the couple in happier times until her death. this is a well-written, well- directed mystery which leads us in one directions and into another direction. What Cho finds, we find out along with him. A page turner of a movie.
