The Academy Awards made another fine mess. Other than omitting Emily Blunt from being nominated Best Actress for "Mary Poppins Returns," the film also omitted "Stan and Ollie" from the nomination list, and what a shame. The performances from John C. Reilly as Oliver Hardy and Steve Coogan as Stan Laurel are outstanding. I can recall watching Laurel and Hardy as a child and watching them on TV every Sunday morning. these two funny men has inspired me and watching the two not long ago on Turner Classic Movies (required viewing for movie lovers). The film captures the duo trip to England and Ireland to perform live. While there, Stan is busy making a deal on a movie that will never be made, while Oliver is at the races gambling and at the same time, his health is declining. But one thing the two had in common, one can't perform with out the other. Oliver dies in 1957, Stan will live for another eight, living long enough to accept a special Oscar in 1961. I recommend the movies for those who love the duo and those what to watch them for the first time. A really great movie.
