Raya and the Last Dragon brings a fresh approach to a familiar story. Fans of Moana will recognize familiar elements, including the plucky and strong-willed lead female character and supernatural being that helps her on her quest to find an item that will save her people back home. Even with all that familiarity, Raya and the Last Dragon is an enjoyable movie. It doesn't feel like a retread of a trail blazed in years past because, just like a romantic comedy that covers familiar ground, you enjoy the experience nonetheless.
