I was never fortunate enough to see Hamilton performed live, but I have heard the music and plenty about it through the media and family members.

I now have a much better understanding of why so many people like it, and talk about it, and see it more than once. And listen to the music. A lot. I get it now.

If you have not seen this performed live, and your first experience is on the Disney+ streaming service, you owe it to yourself to watch it on the best home theater system you can find. If you watch this on your phone, you'll miss the nuances of the performances, as the actors express themselves for the benefit of their characters as well as for the enjoyment of their audience. You're not going to see these things on your phone very well. The set, while not very complex, does get used by a large number of characters in some scenes, and when that happens, even a laptop/tablet is going to be a compromised experience.

It's wonderfully shot, and it deserves to be seen on the largest screen possible. I had the good fortune to see it on a 10-foot-wide home theater screen in 4K.

Another benefit of seeing it with a good home theater setup is the sound. From the very beginning, you'll notice the crowd applause behind and around you. The ambient sounds echo up into the ceiling, making use of overhead Dolby Atmos speakers, if you have them. Don't have surround speakers? Get them. Don't have Atmos yet? What are you waiting for? At the very least, get the surrounds fired up. It's the next best thing to being there, especially since you can't even see the show performed live in this coronavirus time we're currently living in.

A big benefit of watching this at home over seeing it in a theater is that you'll be able to watch it again so you can enjoy it better. The dialog is delivered in rap fashion, and there are more words per minute than I could keep up with much of the time. It took me probably 30-45 minutes in before I could keep up with what they were saying/singing.

This may not be a show for everyone, but I enjoyed it. Like I said, the better the media system is that you watch it on, the more enjoyable it will be.
