This movie starts as a dramatic story about an obsessive chef with plans for an evening of revenge served in several courses, but it turns into a dark comedy chess match with a surprising opponent.

In lesser hands, this could have been just another movie with an offbeat tone that would have been forgotten soon. Fortunately, we didn't get that movie, we got this one.

The social commentary is strong. The diners are pointed stereotypes of people we dislike on varying levels. Ralph Fiennes is not a likeable character either, so it's not like you're cheering for anyone, especially Nicholas Hoult's fanboy character who is more than happy to steal food off his date's plate while mayhem happens around him.

The ending wraps up the evening's events nicely and the movie succeeds in getting you to think about it long after the final credits roll. That makes it a good choice to watch with others and discuss afterwards. It's available now on streaming services and comes to disc on January 17, 2023. It's well worth checking out!
