the plot made no sense what so ever. the acting lackluster, exetremely slow paced, one of the most boring movies i've ever seen in my life. it was so bad i left before it ended. Dec 1, 2002
I would have given this movie a "See Now!" rating, but I decided against it, because it isn't for everyone. This movie is beautifully filmed and will most like be nominated for it's cinematography, set design, and directing. DO NOT see this movie if you are expecting something like Alien, or Men In Black. The reviews you read here that recommend that you "Stay Away" are most likely from teenagers, or people who have been brainwashed by the drivel that Hollywood has been putting out. In fact, I saw a couple of these type of people leave the theater before Solaris ended. Solaris requires thought. It reminded me most of 2001 A Space Odyssey, but it boils down to religion and the existence of a God. If you have an open mind, want to see a gorgeous movie, and don't mind having of bit of faith mixed into the experience, I highly recommend this movie. Dec 3, 2002
"Solaris" is a depressing drama about a psychologist who went to a space station when astronauts on the station experieced unusual behavior. while there he confronted his dead wife who appeared on the space station, played beautifully by Natasche McElhone.(The only good thing about this film) The music score reminded me of a better movie which is titled "2001:A Space Odyssey." This film should have been given more life. "Solaris" lacks that energy so no recommedation from me. Dec 6, 2002
First off, let me say that I'm not a teenager. I'm 30 and my husband is almost 40. He fell asleep during the movie. It was all I could do to stay awake. The plot was foggy. I'm still not sure what was going on or how it ended and yes, I was awake. Don't waste your money unless you like art films cause that is all that this is. The acting was ok, but there wasn't much to act out. I was really disappointed in this movie. They shouldn't have remade it. Dec 8, 2002
Slow. Not thought provoking enough for a movie that should be. Not worth the time or money. Watch it on HBO when nothing else is on. Dec 16, 2002
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ I actually fell asleep at this movie. My wife had to wake me because I started to snore. The movie just never got going. Beautiful scenery of outer space especially the planet named Solaris. This movie dragged on like 2001 A Space Oddesy. I enjoyed 2001 better. If this comes out in rental, don't bother renting it, A big waste of money. If it comes out on TV, watch something else. I was very disapointed as well as my wife.
