Cuba Gooding Jr. deserve another Oscar nomination in this wonderful drama about a mentally challenge man named Radio (the title of the film) who was befriended by a football coach, played by Ed Harris. Gooding Jr\'s character is based on a real life person who became a lighting rod for a high school that has yet to accept people with special needs. Gooding Jr. dominated not only this film, but our hearts as well. This film has a heart, a big heart. This film has made my day. It\'ll make you day too. Nov 3, 2003
This is a tender, touching movie, without cynicism. Even the conflict is mild, no real villains, just thoughtless people with their own agendas. People who don't like these kinds of movie (ones that focus on the better side of human nature) will hate it. It isn't a big dramatic story (and not really a football story either). It is a sweet story about a football coach and a his friendship with a young retarded man. Some critics have called it sappy, sentimental, low-brow. They say it might appeal to "the masses" but has nothing to offer high brow people like these brilliant critics. Well, however that may be, I enjoyed every minute; I laughed and I cried; I left feeling inspired. In my book, that's a good movie. Nov 28, 2003
