Great, great movie! This may be considered by some to be a "Rocky" look-alike, but the superb acting by Crowe & Zellweger, the depression era scenery, and the fact it is based upon a true story make it a cut above the norm.

A powerful film not about the life of Boxer Braddock, who won the boxing championship over Max Baer, but pull his family out of the Great Depression. The Great Depressions scenes are powerful. Reminding me of the 1940 film "The Grapes of Wrath." Battling Baer inthe end of the film is the best boxing movie scene in years.

Just plain awesome!

I went to this movie with little information on what is what about, only knowing that Russel Crowe was the star, and it turned out to be an incredible movie. Usually, sports-themed movies are fun and can be very good, but are predictable. Cinderella Man stepped out of that category and into another level altogether. The Great Depression-era setting made the plot very heart-wrenching, and it made for a great emotional attachment to the main characters. The fight scenes themselves were outstanding, looking very realistic. See this movie on the big screen.

-- As far as I'm concerned, the academy awards were created for movies like this.
