You can't trust a critic. This is a great movie. Jamie Foxx will get an academy award nomination. The way his early life was shown in little clips of memory was brilliant. The only problem I had; the sound wasn't loud enough. Ray's music needs to be heard.

This is a remarkable film. You're transported into Ray. You feel his lonliness, hear his genius, and see his flaws. Jamie Fox does an incredible job with Ray's voice and gestures. The only thing I saw that needed work was the editing: it needed to move on. You get too much of life on the road and not enough about the music or what his life was like post drugs. I wanted to know what made him reject almost everyone that tried to help him. But wow, what a film!

GOOD movie, but WAIT FOR RENTAL because it is long and you'll want to take breaks along the way.

You believe that Foxx is Charles until he takes off the dark shades. The movie's characterization of Ray Charles is very human, complete with both the good and bad that's in each of us. However, the man's talents cannot be disputed.

The movie got too long for me. With careful editing, they could have "tightened it up!"

Jamie Foxx's performance as Ray Charles has lifted the film "Ray" above that of a standard rock biopic. Foxx plays Ray Charles a musican who had to deal with racism, his blindness and his herion addiction to achieve succes as a singer. His performance is incrediable. If you miss this movie, you will miss plenty pof good music from Charles himself. I can remember Charles as he appeared in "The Blues Brothers" and is a pitchman for Pepsi. After walking away from this move, I know about him a great deal more.
