The worst movie I have ever seen. Bad acting, no story line, poor singing, promoting and glorifing lying, cheating, and living off of other people's money. Wait until it comes out on DVD and DON'T rent it.

Excellent! Producers did a great job of bringing this musical to the big screen. Acting and singing fantastic. Any lover of muscials will certainly enjoy this one.

\"Rent\" is an exceleent movie based on the Broadway hit. the cast in this movie is oustanding especailly Rosario Dawson who not only gave an stand-out performance, but gave a very sexy performance. The songs are memorable. In this film version, like the Broadway version, we spent a year with eight individuals who have survived the mean streets of New York City. Not the best musical, but I liked it enough to recommend.

Great music!!! I really can't say that the story was that amazing. The story was mostly about people with aids who didn't want to pay their rent. If you really aren't into musicals I would tell you not to see it, because without the music, the storyline leaves much to be desired.

It was fantastic and far exceeded my expectations! It is a crime that it is no longer in theaters after a month of being out.

I've never seen the Broadway musical, but I have the 2-disc CD soundtrack of it, which I've enjoyed. Now, after seeing the movie, the soundtrack makes more sense so it's more enjoyable, and I regret never having the chance to see the live performance of the musical.

While some of the themes do not match my own sensibilities, they don't have to in order for it to be an enjoyable story. Just as I would not wish to be a pirate, it doesn't stop me from enjoying Johnny Depp chew up the screen with Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom in tow.

Since I've not seen the musical, I can't say how the movie transfers that experience to the big screen. I think that movies should be able to stand on their own, though, and Rent does that very well.
