The newest reincrnation of the Charles Dickens novel directed by Roman Polanski. what I like about the new version of "Oliver Twist," is that the film is loyal to the book. This new one is more violent and realistic that the 1968 musical version of the film. I followered the film very easily and I know which way the film's heading, but I strongly recommend the film because, I like everything from the Polanski directing to the score by Rachael Portman (who also did the score for "The Legend of Baggar Vance"). This film is beautiful and it capture 19th century Victoria England. The characters are captured very brilliantly. This film should be played in high schools and colleges who teach Dickens so that students can learn what it's like to live the slums of England during Dickens time though the eyes of one Oliver Twist.
